Charlotte Hornets Information

The Charlotte Hornets is one of the American National professional basketball teams based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team competes in the NBL (National Basketball Association) as a member of the Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The Hornets play their home games at the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte, whereas their former home venue was Charlotte Coliseum. The team was founded in 1988. From 2004 to 2014, the team remained to play as Charlotte Bobcats and then renamed Charlotte Hornets in 2014.

The Hornets opted for dark purple, grey, and teal as their official uniform colors. Hugo or Hugo the Hornet is known as the official mascot for the Charlotte Hornets. The first NBA game of the Hornets took place on November 4, 1988. Unfortunately, they lost this game by 133-93 to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Just a month later, on December 23, 1988, the team beat the Chicago Bulls, finally providing something for their fans to cheer about. The Hornets’ inaugural season ended with a record of 20-62.

Many Hornets are honored to play for the NBA All-Star Game, such as Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, Baron Davis, Glen Rice, Eddie Jones, Gerald Wallace, and Kemba Walker. The team also added three of its players to the Basketball Hall of Famers and two players in the FIBA Hall of Famers.

In 1991, the Hornets hosted the NBA All-Star game, where they finished off with the record 26-25 — in the 1994-1995 season, returning to the playoffs, the Hornets finished-off with a 50-32 record. The team players who achieved individual awards for their outstanding performances are Emeka Okafor (Rookie of the Year), Glen Rice (All-NBA Third Team), Bob Bass (Executive of the Year), and several others.
