Judas Priest Information

Judas Priest is an English heavy metal band that was formed in 1969 in West Bromwich. Until 1980, the band struggled and could not get any significant commercial success as well as catch any public or industrial attention. The cast of the band also faced problems in the members’ consistency. Currently, the Judas Priest’s line up consists of Richie Faulkner and Glenn Tipton (guitarists), Scott Travis (drummer), and Ian Hill (bassist).

Judas Priest released its debut studio album “Rocka Rolla” on September 6, 1974. Before its release, the band went into the studio in July with Rodger Bain, the producer of Black Sabbath. In this album, the band showcased its different styles, such as progressive, heavy riffing, and rock. The band also finished its first-ever international tour that was for Rocka Rolla.

Judas Priest began recording its second album entitled “Sad Wings of Destiny” in November 1975 and finished it in December at Rockfield Studios based in Wales. They went on a headlining tour to support this album. The album did not get a massive success but a little and managed to peak at number 48 in the United Kingdom. There was a time on Judas Priest when they got tight in finances and faced one of their members’ departure. Later, their album Sad Wings of Destiny caught the attention of CBS Records, who signed them right away. After signing, they received a budget of £60,000 that helped them survive through their next album.

Judas Priest has released several studio albums so far, including Sin After Sin (1977), Stained Class (1978), Screaming for Vengeance (1982), Painkiller (1990), and several other successful albums.
