King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Information
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is a rock band based in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 2010, the band includes Joey Walker, Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Michael Cavanagh, Eric Moore, and Lucas Skinner.
This band has one of the most energetic stage presences of any live show, and their records output is just crazy. Within nine years, they released two EPs and 15 studio albums. Willoughby’s Beach (2011), 12 Bar Bruise (2012), and Eyes Like the Sky (2013) are fusions of surf music and garage rock and were all released on an independent record label, Flightless, founded by Moore.
The band did a blend of jazz, soul, heavy metal, film music, progressive rock, and psychedelic rock in their next albums. These were Float Along - Fill Your Lungs (2013), Oddments, I’m in Your Mind Fuzz (2014), Quarters! Paper Dream Mâché Ballon (2015), and Nonagon Infinity (2016).
In 2017, they released five studio albums in under a year. They were Flying Microtonal Banana (February), Murder of the Universe (June), Sketches of Brunswick East (August), Polygondwanala (November), and Gumboot Soup (December). On April 26, 2019, the band released their 14th album, Fishing for Fishies, and on August 16, followed that up with Infest the Rats’ Nest.
