Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. is a rapper, professionally known by his stage name, Lil Wayne. He was born in Louisiana, in the city of New Orleans. Wayne is widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop musicians of his generation, and he is usually referred to as one of the best rappers of all time by his colleagues. His career began in 1995 at 12 years old when he was signed by rapper Birdman. He joined Cash Money Records as the label's youngest member and became the main artist until June 2018, when he parted ways with the label.
Wayne was put in a duo with labelmate B.G. in 1995, and they made an album, True Story, that was released the same year, with Wayne (then known as Baby D) only appearing on three tracks. Wayne and B.G., together with Cash Money, label-mates Juvenile and Turk, formed the southern hip hop group Hot Boys in 1997 and released their first album, Get It How U Live! in October of that year. Following the album Guerrilla Warfare (1999) and the song "Bling Bling," the Hot Boys became well-known.
