Usher is an American dancer, businessman, songwriter, singer, and actor. He was born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When he was 12, his mother put him in local singing competitions where Usher would perform. He eventually caught the attention of A&R from LaFace Records, and the music industry welcomed him.
Usher released his self-titled debut album on August 30, 1994. This album brought him massive fame and was enough to encourage him to release his second studio album entitled “My Way.” The album was officially released on September 16, 1997, and it spawned his first Billboard Hot 100 number 1 single in the United States entitled “You Make Me Wanna.” On August 7, 2001, Usher released his third studio album named 8701, which produced other number one singles such as “U Got It Bad,” “U Don’t Have to Call,” and “U Remind Me.” The album sold over eight million copies worldwide and earned Usher his first two Grammy Awards.
Usher was established as one of the best-selling musical artists of the 2000s with the release of his fourth studio album, Confessions, released on March 23, 2004. He sold over 20 million copies worldwide and had four consecutive Billboard Hot 100 number singles. As a successful actor, Usher has also worked in several films throughout his career, including Hustlers (2019), Incredibles 2 (2018), Last of the Showmen (2018), Burden (2017), and People You May Know (2017).
