The Arizona Diamondbacks (D-backs) is an American professional baseball team. The team is based in Phoenix, Arizona. The Arizona Diamondback competes as a member of the National League’s West division in Major League Baseball (MLB). Chase Field, formerly famous as Bank One Ballpark, is the home stadium for the team. Diamondbacks are often nicknamed The Snakes, Rattlesnakes, and the D-backs, and white is the color opted as the team’s consistent theme.
The Arizona Diamondbacks were officially voted into the National League on January 16, 1997. The team was awarded an expansion franchise to Phoenix on March 9, 1995. The team played its first major league game against the Colorado Rockies at Bank One Ballpark (March 31, 1998).
The Arizona Diamondbacks won 1 World Series Championship title in 2001, 1 NL Pennants in 2001, 5 West Division titles (1999, 2001, 2002, 2007, and 2011), and 1 Wild card berth in 2017. The official mascot of the team is D. Baxter, the Bobcat. It was unveiled on June 23, 2000, when the team played at the Chase Field. Purple, black, teal, and copper was the team’s original colors in the past.
The 2019 Arizona Diamondbacks season was the franchise’s 22nd season in Major League Baseball and their 22nd season at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, as the National League West Division members. Having used 30 players in this game, the Diamondbacks set another franchise record in that respect. With 25 strikeouts by Diamondbacks pitchers and 21 by Cardinals pitchers, both teams tied a Major League Baseball record for most strikeouts in a single game at 46. The 2019 Diamondbacks were the first team in Major League history to have their road opener against one reigning pennant winner (Dodgers) and their home opener against the other (Red Sox) in the same season
On August 14, 2021, Tyler Gilbert threw the third no-hitter in Diamondbacks history. The Diamondbacks finished the 2021 Arizona Diamondbacks season in fifth place in the National League West, with a 52–110 record.
