Busch Clash Information
The Busch Clash is an American annual invitation-only NASCAR Cup Series exhibition held at Daytona International Speedway. It typically takes place in February every year, just a week before the Daytona 500. It is considered the first competitive game of the season that serves as a kickoff event for the NASCAR portion of Speedweeks. Anheuser-Busch is the official sponsor for the Busch Clash.
The Busch Clash’s race originally consisted of a 20-lap/50-mile “all-out sprint.” In the 2021 edition of the race, the format was made up of two segments as a 15-lap start finishing with a 20-lap final segment. The race is held at Texas Motor Speedway which is also the venue for the All-Star Race. There are no championship points as an award; instead, it offers a large cash purse. The race arrangements are designed to encourage participants to showcase all kinds of driving styles that are not typically seen in any other race.
The Busch Clash was founded in 1979 as Busch Clash but went through several name changes over time. From 1998-2000, the race was called Bud Shootout, from 2001-2012, it was known as the Budweiser Shootout, from 2013-2016. Dale Earnhardt (6) is the driver with the most wins, whereas Joe Gibbs Racing (10) is the team with the most wins.
