Dallas Stars Information
The Dallas Stars (NHL) are a professional ice hockey team that is based in Dallas, Texas. They are a member of the NHL’s Central Division of the Western Conference. The team was known as the Minnesota North Stars before changing its name to Dallas Stars in 1993. The team used to play its home games at the newly constructed Metropolitan Sports Center, which is located in Bloomington, Minnesota. Currently, their home arena is the American Airlines Center .
The franchise was founded in 1967 as Minnesota North Stars and became part of the NHL’s six-team expansion. Initially being successful, both on the ice and gate, they started facing some financial issues due to some of the poor seasons they played in the mid-1970s. Finally, North Stars merged with Cleveland Barons in 1978 as both of the failing franchises were struggling to progress any further.
Both merged teams continued to play as Minnesota North Stars. They revived with some of their talented plays and reached the 1981 Stanley Cup Finals, where they lost to the New York Islanders. The team is also popular due to its uniform color theme that is White, Black, Silver, and Victory Gree. The mascot of the team is Victor E.Green.
Dallas Stars have won the Presidents’ Trophy two times (1997-98, and 1998-99), Stanley Cup (1998-99), along with Clarence S. Campbell Bowl in 1998-99, and 1999-2000. Some individual records won by the team members include Lester Patrick Trophy awarded to Neal Broten in 1997-1998, Conn Smythe Trophy to Joe Nieuwendyk in 1998-99.
The Dallas Stars has inducted Leo Bolvin, Mike Modano (the only player who played before and after the relocation of the franchise), Larry Murphy, Mike Gartner, Eric Lindros, Gump Worsley, Ed Belfour, and Sergei Makarov as their Hall of Famers.
