Georgia Bulldogs Football Information
The University Of Georgia's football team is the Georgia Bulldogs. They have been competing since 1892. The team's current head coach is Kirby Smart, James Coley is the offensive coordinator, and Dan Lanning is the defensive coordinator. Uga and Hairy Dawg are the official mascots of the team. They host their games at the university's iconic Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia.
Georgia has won four consecutive national championships (1942, 1980, 2021, and 2022). It also won three consecutive national titles (1980, 2021, and 2022) in the AP and Coaches Polls, respectively. Four more times (1920, 1927, 1946, and 1968), Georgia was crowned national champion by at least one polling organization.
The Bulldogs have also appeared in 61 bowl games, the second most in history. They have won 16 conference championships, 14 of which are SEC crowns. This program has awarded two Heisman Trophy winners, five first-overall picks in the NFL draft, and numerous more national award winners.
Georgia has been chosen as national champion by major selectors designated by the NCAA eight times in total (1920, 1927, 1942, 1946, 1968, 1980, 2021, and 2022) and in four different years (1942, 1980, 2021, and 2022) earned national titles for Georgia. After finishing the 2022 season undefeated (15-0), they went on to win the 2023 CFP National Championship Game.
