The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team. The team is based in Kansas City and was inaugurated 60 years ago on August 14, 1959. The Chiefs played their first season in 1960. The team plays as a member of the West Division of AFC in the National Football League. It was founded as Dallas Texans previously and was a charter member of the AFL. The team got its current name in 1963 when it moved to Kansas City. Currently, the Chiefs are said to be worth $2 billion and play their home games at Arrowhead Stadium. Cotton Bowl and Municipal Stadium are the two former home fields of the Chiefs.
Hunt Family owns the Chiefs. Clark Hunt serves as the chairman as well as the CEO of the team, whereas Mark Donovan is the president, and Brett Veach is the current general manager. Its two nicknames knew the club in the past; The Redwood Forest (Defense, 1966–1971) and The Legion of Zoom (Offense, 2018–present). The team has won three AFL championships, in 1962, 1966, and 1969, and two Super Bowl Championships in 1969 and 2019. It has won one Conference Championship in 2019 and twelve Division Championships (AFL Western: 1962, 1966 and AFC West: 1971, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2003, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019).
The Chiefs appeared in the playoffs 22 times in total to date. The official uniform theme of the franchise is red, gold, and white. Warpaint, a pinto horse, is the mascot of the team from 1963-1988 and later from 2009-present. K.C.Wolf has accompanied it since 1989. The Chiefs also have a cheerleading squad, which is an all-female squad known as Chiefettes.
