Tiger Stadium, with a seating capacity of 102,321 individuals, serves as the team's home ground. Their uniform features the colors gold and purple. Mike the Tiger holds the distinction of being the official mascot for the Tigers. Scott Woodward holds the athletic director position, while Brian Kelly is the head coach.
LSU and Alabama have met annually since the 1960s. LSU fans often trace the roots of this rivalry back to a 15-game undefeated streak Alabama had in Tiger Stadium, widely regarded as one of the most intimidating atmospheres in college football. As of the end of the 2022 season, Alabama leads the series with a record of 55-27-5. LSU has participated in 52 bowl games and holds a record of 28–23–1. The Tigers have made it to 20 consecutive bowl games since 2000, ranking fourth in the NCAA for active streaks and second in the Southeastern Conference.
From 1992 to 2023, LSU competed in the West Division of the SEC, facing each divisional opponent annually, in addition to various teams from the East Division. In 2024, the SEC plans to expand to 16 teams and eliminate its two divisions, resulting in a new scheduling format for the Tigers against other conference members.
