The New Orleans Saints are one of the well-known professional American Football teams that are based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The team was founded 53 years ago by David Dixon, John W. Mecom Jr., and the city of New Orleans itself on November 1, 1966. It competes as the club member of the South Division of the National Football Conference in the NFL. The Saints are known by a variety of nicknames, including The Black and Gold, the Dome Patrol, the Who Dats, and the Bless You Boys. The Saints play their home games at Mercedes-Benz Superdome New Orleans, Louisiana, whereas the team is headquartered in Metairie, Louisiana. A few of the former and temporary home fields are Tulane Stadium (1967–1974), Tiger Stadium (four games), and two more.
The Saints are owned by Gayle Benson, and the president is Dennis Lauscha. Mickey Loomis is the general manager of the team. The team has won one League Championship, Super Bowl championships 2009, one Conference Championship (NFC: 2009), and eight Division championships (NFC West: 1991, 2000, and NFC South: 2006, 2009, 2011, 2017, 2018, 2019). The team appeared thirteen times in the playoffs.
The official uniform theme of the Saints includes old gold, black, and white colors. The official mascot of the team is Gumbo and Sir Saint. The Saints also enjoy the presence of their cheerleading squad popular as The Saintsations. The team also inducted many players to its New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame, including Archie Manning, Danny Abramowicz, Tom Dempsey, Derland Moore, and many others. Many of the players also earned the Joe Gemelli Fleur-De-Lis Award.
