Portland Trail Blazers Information
The Portland Trail Blazers, based in Portland, Oregano, is an American professional basketball team. It is a part of the Western Conference Northwest Division. The Blazers played their home games in the Memorial Coliseum. They have sold out 814 consecutive home games from 1977-1995, which is the longest streak in NBA history.
Founded in 1970, Portland Trail Blazers are also known, more commonly, as Blazers. They began playing in the 1970–71 NBA season and the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Buffalo Braves (now known as Los Angeles Clippers). The team has won 14 more games than the Cavaliers and seven more than the Buffalo Braves.
On October 16, 1970, Blazers played their first game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with 115-112. In 1977, they made their first playoff appearance and rode the frontcourt combination of Maurice Lucas and Bill Walton to a championship. In the 1976-77 season, Blazers underwent a stunning turnaround during the regular season with a winning record of 49-33 against Philadelphia 76ers.
The Blazers are famous for their red, white, and black uniforms. Blaze the Trail Cat, a two-tone silver-colored mountain lion, is the official mascot of the team. BlazerDancers is a team of 16 dancers that dance whenever the Blazers play.
Since 1970, six Hall of Fame players have played for the Blazers, including Clyde Drexler, Lenny Wilkens, Dražen Petrovic, Bill Walton, Scottie Pippen, and Arvydas Sabonis.
