The team competes as a member of the National Football Conference (NFC) West Division in the National Football League (NFL). The franchise was founded on June 4, 1944. The 49ers play their home games currently at Levi’s Stadium that is located in Santa Clara, California. The Headquarters of the team has been located in Santa Clara as well since 1988. The franchise joined the All-American Football Conference (AAFC) in 1946 as a charter member, whereas they joined the NFL later in 1949, after the merger. The franchise was the first of San Francisco for the major league. Denise DeBartolo York owns the team.
The official color theme for the San Francisco 49ers uniform is gold and red. Between the years 1981 to 1994, the franchise has won five Super Bowl championships. The 49ers have earned 20 division championships throughout their history between 1970 to 2019. They have also achieved good grades in winning seven conference championships in NFC (1981, 1984, 1988, 1989, 1994, 2012, 2019). Sourdough Sam is the official mascot for the San Francisco 49ers.
