West Coast Conference Mens Basketball Tournament Information
The yearly culmination of NCAA college basketball in the West Coast Conference is the West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament (WCC). A berth in the next year's NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament is guaranteed to the tournament champion. Up to 2008, the competition was held at a different member team's arena each year. In 2009, for the first time, the tournament was held at a neutral venue: Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada (a suburb of Las Vegas).
The semifinals and the final are broadcast nationally on ESPN, while ESPN2 handles the semis. The Western Conference (WCC) implemented a new format in 2014 to include a tenth team (Pacific). Ten teams will compete in the new format. Seeds 7 and 8 played each other in the first round, while seeds 1 through 6 faced each other in the second round. The winner of the 7/10 match advances against the two seeds. The winner of the 8/9 match advanced to face the one seed in Round 2.
The 3rd and 4th seeds faced off against each other, with the 3rd playing the 6th. BYUtv Sports broadcasted the 2014 opening round. The quarterfinal games in the day were shown on BYUtv, while those in the evening were shown on ESPN2. ESPN broadcasted one semis, ESPN2 broadcasted the other, and ESPN broadcasted the final.
