Wilmington Blue Rocks Information
The Wilmington Blue Rocks is an American minor League Baseball team. The team plays in the High-A East as well as the affiliate of the Washington Nationals. They are currently located in Wilmington, Delaware. The Blue Rocks have played games in the Carolina League, which is an advanced Single-A league. The Blue Rocks play its home games at Judy Johnson Field at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. The team played its debut season in 1993.
The Blue Rocks were formerly known as Kansas City. The team was featured in 50 States in 50 Days by SportsCenter in 2005. The team also played host to the California/Carolina League All-Star Game in 2014. The Blue Rocks won the Mills Cup Championship in 2019 for the first time since 1999. They were also invited officially by Washington Nationals in December 2020 to become its affiliate.
M. Celery, Rubble, and Blue Moose are the official mascots of the Blue Rocks. Each mascot appears at different events during the game. There are roughly 130 players of the Blue Rocks who have gone on the major leagues. Some former players of the team are Jason Gilfillan, Byron Gettis, Mike Fyhrie, Carlos Febles, Sal Fasano, Jacoby Ellsbury, Mark Ellis, Chad Durban, Danny Duffy, David DeJesus, Kiko Calero, Clay Buchholz, Dee Brown, and Tim Byrdak.
