Jo Koy Information
Joseph Glenn Herbert Sr. (June 2, 1971) is an American actor and stand-up comedian. He is professionally known by his stage name, Jo Koy. He was born in Tacoma, Washington. Jo Koy is a childhood nickname that stuck and became his stage name. During his set on September 22, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona, he said that in 1989, he was discussing stage names with his cousin when his aunt yelled, "Jo Ko, eat!"
Jo Koy: In His Elements, a comedy program starring Filipino American comedians, DJs, and B-boys, premiered on Netflix on June 12, 2020. A public announcement of Koy and Chelsea Handler's romance via Instagram was made on September 27, 2021 although they broke up in June 2022.
Koy and film director Dan Lin performed at the 2022 Rise for Comedy festival on July 28. The proceeds went to the non-profit SIPA, Search to Involve Filipino Americans. Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, and Steve Martin are just a few comedians who have influenced Koy to become a member of Blogtalk with MJ Racadio's "75 Most Influential Filipino-Americans" list from 2022.
