Starlight Theatre - Kansas City, MO
Starlight Theatre is an outdoor theatre which is located at 4600 Starlight Road, Kansas City, Missouri. The construction of the venue started in 1925, costing a total amount of $1.5 million. The theatre was opened to the general public on June 25, 1951. It is under the ownership of the City of Kansas City, Missouri and is operated by Starlight Theatre Association (music concerts are booked by the Live Nation). It has a seating capacity of 7,958 people in Starlight and 1,200 people in Cohen at a time. Edward Buehler Delk designed the architecture of the venue. In the U.S, the Starlight Theatre makes one of the two self-producing outdoor theatres.
After the addition of the Jeannette and Jerome Cohen Community Stage, Starlight became one of the largest roadhouses in the country in 2000 and started hosting national tours to bring contemporary Broadway musicals to Kansas City. The venue served as a host to many musicians such as Sheryl Crow (from southern Missouri), The Fray from Denver and 311 (band), etc. The performances featured in Broadway shows include The Desert Song, Sweethearts, Jersey Boys, and Chicago. The upcoming performances to be held at the venue include Kacey Musgraves, Greta Van Fleet, and Heart & Joan Jett.
