Yankee Stadium reopened for the general public on April 2, 2009, after reconstruction and renovation of the old stadium which initially opened on April 18, 1923, and later closed in 2008. Currently, it is under the ownership of the New York City Industrial Development Agency while managed and operated by Yankee Stadium LLC. It has a brilliant architecture preserving its original 1923 state which was designed by Populous formerly known as HOK Sports. It is the most expensive stadium ever built.
