Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago, IL
The Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom is located at 1106 W. Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. The exact location is the North of Downtown (approximately 5 miles), in the neighborhood of Uptown. The concert hall opened in 1926. The architecture was designed in the Moorish style interior that makes it more beautiful. Its interior resembles a Spanish village. Due to this, the place remained popular throughout the 1940s. The seating capacity of this ballroom is around 5000 people at a time, and it is under the ownership of Luis Rossi, Ivan Fernandez, and Live Nation.
Some legend states the secret tunnels under the Green Mill bar (Prohibition-era hangout of Al Capone) lead to the Basement of Aragon Ballroom. The venue hosted almost all the top brands of that area. During the 1970s, the place was home to the “Monster Rock” show. This show got some significant crowd due to which the ballroom adopted a nickname, “The Aragon Ballroom.” Also, the World Champion boxing reached the Aragon Ballroom on December 15, 1982. Currently, it hosts occasional events related to boxing as well as Spanish and English language rock and pop concerts.
