Long Island Community Hospital Amphitheater - Farmingville, NY
Long Island Community Hospital Amphitheater is an outdoor concert venue located at Bald Hill Selden, New York. The venue was formerly known as the Pennysaver Amphitheater at Bald Hill and Brookhaven Amphitheater. The amphitheater was built in the 1980s and is under the ownership of the Town of Brookhaven. It has a seating capacity of 7,000 in total, with 3,000 (seats) and 4,000 (grass area). The venue was built as a replacement for earlier portable and simpler stages. It was modeled after notable venues such as the PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey. Long Island Amphitheater has been compared to such arenas as the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.
Long Island Community Hospital Amphitheater has served as a host to many musical acts such as B.B. King, Pat Benatar, Alice Cooper, Blondie, James Brown, Cheap Trick, Twisted Sister, and the 2002 Metal Edge Rockfest. The amphitheater also hosted family-friendly movie nights. The management of the venue was given to JVC Broadcasting in 2012.
