The Scotiabank Saddledome is a multi-purpose indoor arena located at 555 Saddledome Rise SE, Calgary, Alberta. The arena was opened to the public on October 15, 1983, with a seating capacity of around 19,289 people at a time for Ice Hockey. The venue is owned by the City of Calgary and operated by Saddledome Foundation and Calgary Sports and Entertainment. The architecture of the arena was designed by GEC architecture. The arena went through its renovation process in the year 1994. The venue is home to the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League.
The Saddledome has hosted the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The venue has also hosted the 1985 NHL All-Star Game as the home of the flames. The artist, Rod Stewart, is the one who has appeared the most on the stage of the arena. The first musical act of the venue took place in November 1983 when Moody Blues appeared with Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Canadian men’s curling championship “Brier” was also hosted by the arena on four occasions; 1997, 2002, 2009, and 2015. It also hosted the Women’s Championship and the Tournaments of Hearts in 1995.
