Hohokam Stadium, known as Dwight W. Patterson Field, and formerly known as Hohokam Park, is a 10,500 seat baseball park located in Mesa, Arizona. The stadium was opened in February 1997 and was renovated in 2014. The architecture of the stadium was by Populous (HOK Sport). The stadium has hosted several teams, including Chicago Cubs (MLB) (1997-2013), Mesa Solar Sox (AFL) (1997-2013), Arizona State (Pac-10) (2002), Mesa Miners (GBL) (2005), and Oakland Athletics (MLB) (2015-present).
The Arizona State University baseball team also called Hohokam Park their home in 2002 while their on-campus Packard Stadium was being renovated. In 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2015, the stadium hosted the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Tournaments. The original stadium was built in 1976 on the east side of the current stadium.
The stadium has the largest scoreboard in the Cactus League that has measuring around 12 by 16 feet. Currently, the operations of Hohokam Stadium are looked after by Oakland Athletics, and the team’s management is responsible for all kinds of duties. The Cubs have set several spring training attendance records at the venue while playing there during the 1980s, frequently drawing over 100,000 fans every single month of games.
