Payne Arena - Hidalgo, TX
Payne Arena Hidalgo is a multi-purpose complex. The venue was formerly known as Dodge Arena and the State Farm arena most recently. It is located at North 10th Street, Hidalgo, Texas. The venue was built and opened to the general public on October 23, 2003. For hockey, it has a seating capacity of about 5,500 people at a time, and for concerts, it has a seating capacity of 6,800 people. The arena is under the ownership and is operated by the City of Hidalgo Municipal Facilities Corporation. The architecture of the venue is designed by PBK Architects Inc. and Eduardo Vela architects.
Payne Arena has been host to various events and concerts by famous performers. Alan Jackson, who is the legendary country music star, performed the first concert in the arena. The famous Mexican singer named Gloria Trevi performed a notable concert at the venue before a sold-out crowd. Payne Arena used to be the home to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA G League. The arena has hosted an NBA preseason game between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors. The UFC Fight Night: Poirier Vs. Johnson was also held at Payne Arena.
