A multi-purpose facility, FirstEnergy Stadium is located in Cleveland, Ohio. It is a home of Cleveland Browns. On May 15, 1997, the construction of the stadium started, and on September 2, 1999, it was opened. Previously, it was named Cleveland Browns Stadium.
When FirstEnergy President, CEO Tony Alexander and its owner Jimmy Haslam and announced its partnership in 2013, FirstEnergy went under renovations. The two-phased renovation budget was $120. In phase one, the stadium gets a new sound system, new video boards, increased lower bowl seating, and additional escalators. In phase-two, there was the renovation of the concessions areas where new graphics were added in honor of Brown's history and current players, Wide-Wi-Fi connectivity and upgraded the clubs and suite spaces. These renovations made the facility look new.
FirstEnergy Stadium is 1.64 million square feet on a 31-acre site with a seating capacity of 67,895. There are 143 suites, 7UP City Club & Lake Club, 8801 club seating, KeyBank Club, Club 46, Draft Room, and Kardiac Club, 42 concessions stand, 274 restrooms, and much more. It hosts many events such as concerts, high school, and college football games, international soccer games, Cleveland Browns, and much more.
The first game hosted at the FirstEnergy Stadium was a football match between the Browns and the Minnesota Vikings on August 2, 1999. The first regular-season if Cleveland Browns game was played at the stadium against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A college football game, Ohio Classic, was also held at the venue in 2004 and 2005. The 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup took place in the stadium. It is the periodic host for both the United States women’s and men’s national soccer teams.
George Strait played the first concert in the stadium in 2000. Other popular bands and artists who performed at the stadium are; Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, the Three Tenors, One Direction, Jay-Z, U2, Taylor Swift, and a few more. The Patriot Bowl, a season-opening game, was played in the stadium from 2007 through 2009.
