Canada Life Centre, previously Bell MTS Place, is an indoor arena located at 300 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. The venue is operated and owned by The North Sports and Entertainment. It was constructed on April 16, 2003. Approximately $133.5 million were spent on the construction of the building on an area of 440,000 square feet. The venue was previously known as The True North Center. However, due to the naming rights agreement with Manitoba Telecom Services, the name was changed to MTS which was renamed to Bell MTS Place on May 30, 2017 until 2021. The architecture of the venue was designed by Sink Combs Dethlefs, Number TEN Architectural Group, and Smith Carter. The Bell MTS Place was opened for the public on November 16, 2004. It has a seating capacity of 15,321 for hockey and 16,345 for concerts. As the MTS Center was the current host to the National Hockey League, minor renovations were to be done to match the league's standard. The new high-definition scoreboard was installed, and plexiglass was used as a replacement of metal rails to have a clear view around the arena. The arena's capacity was increased slightly in 2015.
The Canada Life Centre is considered as a home to two famous ice hockey leagues named as National Hockey League affiliating the Winnipeg Jets and American Hockey League affiliate the Manitoba Moose. The 2007 IIHF Women's World Championship was also hosted by Canada Life Centre, which was won by the host country. Other championships hosted by the venue include World Junior Championship pre-tournament games held in 2005, the fifth match of the 2007 Super Series between Russia and Canada, and the medal round of the 2011 World U-17 Hockey Challenge.
