The Extraco Events Center, also known as the Heart O' Texas Fair Complex, is a Coliseum located in Waco, Texas. The venue is under the ownership of McLennan County and is operated by Heart of Texas Fair Inc. The Extraco Events Center broke ground in January 1952 and opened for the public on April 11, 1953. With a total construction cost of $1.2 million, the center underwent renovation in 2000, which continued till 2005.
The Extraco Events Center was a former basketball facility for Baylor University, and it was constructed right after McLennan County voters authorized a bond issue to cover construction costs. It was the largest concert hall in Waco until Ferrell Center was built in 1988. The venue consists of the Heart O' Texas Coliseum, General Exhibits Building, Creative Arts Building, Show Pavilion, and the recently constructed Stall Barn. The Events Center coliseum seats 6,000 for rodeos and 9,000 for concerts. The year's most extensive event is held for a week in October at the Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo center. It hosts a PRCA rodeo event that accompanies a fair. The Extraco Events Center also hosts notable events annually, such as Monster Trucks, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum, and Bailey circus, along with some of the major concert acts.
