The Ford Center is located at 1 Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Evansville, Indiana, USA. It is a multi-purpose indoor arena with a maximum seating capacity of 11,000 (10,000 for Basketball and 9,000 for Hockey). The venue was officially opened to the general public on November 5, 2011, with a construction cost of $127.5 million. The arena is under the ownership of the City of Evansville while it is operated by Venuworks.
The architecture of the arena was designed by Populous and Hafer Associates. The Ford Center mainly hosts concerts, basketball, and ice hockey games. It currently serves home to the Evansville Thunderbolts minor league hockey team in the Southern Professional Hockey League along with the Evansville Purple Aces basketball teams. It was a former home to Evansville IceMen ECHL.
The very first event that was held at this venue publicly was an Evansville IceMen hockey game on November 5, 2011. Four days later, the very first concert was also held at the place which was performed by Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band. Some other famous artists that performed at the Ford Center include Lady Antebellum, Elton John, Mötley Crüe, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Steel Panther, and many more.
Some other notable events hosted by this venue are 2012 College Basketball Invitational games, 2013 GLVC basketball championships, Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Division 1 International playoffs, which was hosted by Demolition City Roller Derby, etc.
