The Wells Fargo Arena is a multi-purpose arena located at 730 3rd Street Des Moines, Iowa. Its ground was shattered on December 18, 2000, and was open to the general public on July 12, 2005. The seating capacity of the venue is 16,980 for center-stage concerts, 16,285 for end-stage shows, 16,110 for basketball, and 15,181 for hockey and football. The arena is owned by Polk County while it is operated by Spectra Venue Management. The architecture of the venue was designed by HOK Sport, Renaissance Design Group, and Brooks Brog Skiles with a construction cost of $117 million. The venue serves home to Iowa Stars/Chops from 2005-2009, Iowa Wolves from 2007-present, Iowa Barnstormers from 2008-present, and Iowa Wild from 2013-present.
Notable events where crazy performances were made by the artists include Slipknot in 2009 and 2016, Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huck Jam in 2005, Paul McCartney in 2005 and 2017, Garth Brooks in April-May, 2016, The Eagles in 2018, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers in 2016, Foo Fighters in November 2017, Drake in 2016, The Chainsmokers in 2017, Boston in 2016, Eric Church in 2018, Hall and Oates in 2017, Tool in 2019 and a few more. It also served host to NCAA Wrestling National Championship in 2013, WWE Raw and Smackdown Live, NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds in 2016 and 2019, etc.
