The FedEx Forum is a multi-purpose arena which is located at 191 Beale Street, downtown Memphis, Tennessee. The arena was opened on 6th September 2004 with a construction cost of US$250 million. The venue is owned by the City of Memphis while it is operated by Memphis Basketball, LLC. The seating capacity of this place is; Basketball: 18,119, Ice hockey: 16,411, Concert: 19,000. The venue is home to NCAA Division I men's basketball program of the University of Memphis and the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA. It has the capability of hosting concerts, ice hockey games, family shows, etc.
The naming rights of the arena were purchased by one of the well-known businesses of Memphis named as FedEx. It was designed by the renowned architectural firm Ellerbe Becket. It is a round arena with a dome with 27 courtside suites, 32 club suites, 4 party suites, and 80 club boxes. The interior of the FedExForum was designed to pay tribute to Memphis' musical heritage. It is known to be the first arena to utilize new "see-through" shot clock units. This allows spectators seated behind the basket to see the action without having the clock interfering with their view.
The arena hosted various events like the Conference USA men's basketball tournament from 2005 to 2009, 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament, an NHL preseason game, Glen Johnson vs. Roy Jones Jr. for the IBF Light heavyweight title, World Wrestling Entertainment's Unforgiven, PMG Clash of Legends independent show, etc.
