The Palace Theatre is a historic film and performance venue that is located at 100 East Main Street in Waterbury, Connecticut. The theater presents a variety of locally produced events, host traveling productions, and live entertainment. It was inaugurated in 1922 with a construction cost of $1 million. The theatre has a seating capacity of 3,500. The architecture of the venue was designed by Thomas W. Lamb who created it into a Renaissance Revival design. It features an eclectic mix of Federal, Arabic and Roman motifs, ornate dome ceilings, and boasted grand lobby spaces. The theatre was closed in 1987. After 18 years, on 12th November 2004, it reopened and underwent renovations under the management of the Tomasso Group with a renovation cost of $30 million. The venue is under the ownership of Sylvester Z. Poli.
The venue now showcases a performance schedule boasting educational programs, professional Broadway tours, family entertainment and much more. Bruce Springsteen, Kinky Boots, Peter Pan, and Tommy Dorsey are the famous bands who performed in the theatre. The upcoming featured shows to be held in the venue in 2019 are; Fall Jazz Series, 2nd Act, Brian Wilson & The Zombies, KIR Events presentsTrapteton Real, the Book of Mormon- Jumamosi.
