The place was opened for public on September 18, 1999, and has a seating capacity of 16,600 (Basketball), 17,624 (Ice Hockey), and 21,000+ (Concerts). The arena is owned by Atlanta-Fulton County Recreation Authority and operated by the Atlanta Hawks. The largest crowd that was gathered at this arena was during game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on May 2, 2008, where the recorded attendance was 20,425. The architect of the venue was designed by Populous (formerly HOK Sport). The State Farm Arena is home to the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association.
