The Ball Arena is a multi-purpose arena which is located at 1000 Chopper Circle, Denver, Colorado, the United States, known for most of its existence as the Pepsi Center. The place opened its door to the public on October 1, 1999. It has a seating capacity of around 19,520 (Basketball), 17,809 (Hockey/Lacrosse), 17,417 (Football), 20,000+ (Concerts), and 21,000 people can attend the place during special events. The place is owned and operated by Kroenke Sports and Entertainment. PepsiCo was its chief corporate sponsor. For this reason, the name of the arena was kept on its name. The architect of the arena was designed by Populous (HOK Sport).
The arena has hosted the 2001 NHL All-Star Game, The 2001 Stanley Cup Finals, and the 2005 NBA All-Star Game. Frozen Four by the NCAA Men’s ice hockey tournament was held at the Ball Arena on April 10, and April 12, 2008. It also hosted the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2004, 2008, 2011, and 2016. The NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four was held at the arena in 2012. In the week of July 2-8, 2007, the venue hosted the International Convention and Contests of the Barbershop Harmony Society (a men’s singing organization).
The Ball Arena is home to the National Basketball Association’s Denver Nuggets and the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche. The venue is generally busy all year long as many of the premier concert acts use the Ball Arena in all months for the biggest tours.
