Mohegan Sun Arena is a multi-purpose arena present within the Mohegan Casino Resort. The venue is located at 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd, Uncasville, Connecticut. The arena opened for the general public in October 2001. The venue has a seating capacity of around 9,323 for Basketball, 10,000 for concerts, and 7,074 for Lacrosse. Mohegan Sun Arena is owned and operated by Mohegan Sun. The venue was also named as the official home court of the very famous basketball team, the Connecticut Sun.
The venue plays host to a wide range of various events, from sports to electric concerts. The popular musical events hosted by the venue include a diverse range of different musical types such as pop, rock, jazz, country, classical, metal, and rap. The sports events held at the venue include NCAA games, PBA tournaments, early UFC bouts, and the World's Strongest Man Super Series Competition. The arena was also home to the famous football team, "Mohegan Wolves arena football," until it was sold to Manchester in 2004. The 2002 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game was also hosted by the Mohegan Sun Arena on April 21, 2002. The venue hosted its first mixed martial arts event, UFC 35, on January 11, 2002. Some other events hosted by the Arena include Final of WSM Super Series 2005, Start of Giants Live 2009, and Start of WSM Super Series 2010.
