The Kauffman Stadium, commonly known as ‘’The K’’ and previously named as the Royals Stadium, is a baseball park located at 1 Royal Way, Kansas City, Missouri. Its construction started on July 11, 1968, and opened to the general public on April 10, 1973. The seating capacity of the venue is 37,903 that can be expanded to a maximum of 40, 625. Jackson Sports Complex Authority operates the venue. The architecture of the venue was designed by Kivett and Myers, along with the corporation of Populous, with a construction cost of $70 million. The stadium underwent renovation through 2007-2009, with a renovation cost of $250 million. The venue was named after Ewing Kauffman, who first owned the Royals and was the founder as well. The primary tenant of the venue is Kansas City Royals (1973-present). The biggest attendance at the stadium was recorded to be about 41,860.
Some notable events held at the Kauffman Stadium include two Major League Baseball All-Star Games on July 24, 1973, the First World Series game on October 17, 1980, Game 3 of the ALCS on October 11, 1985, second All-Star Game in 2012, and many others. Several popular concerts took place at the stadium performed by renowned artists named; Fleetwood Mac on August 17, 1975, Van Halen on July 15, 1978, REO Speedwagon on September 1, 1979, and Billy Joel on September 21, 2018.
