The KFC Yum Center is a multi-purpose sports arena in Downtown which is located at 1 Arena Plaza, Louisville, Kentucky, United States. The arena was opened for the public on October 10, 2010. The venue has a car parking of around 975 cars and a seating capacity of 22,090 for Basketball, 21,500 for Volleyball, and 17,500 at the End Stage. It was named after the famous restaurant chain KFC and YUM! Brands which is the parent company of KFC. The arena is owned by the Louisville Arena Authority and operated by Anschutz Entertainment Group.
Populous (formerly known as HOK Sport) designed the architecture of the building. The primary tenants of the arena are Louisville’s Cardinals men’s and women’s basketball team from the University of Louisville. For the commonwealth of Kentucky, the KFC Yum Center is honored as the second-largest college arena (Rupp Arena is the 1st one). The record attendance to date at the venue is 23,085 which was set on March 9, 2019, in Metallica’s WorldWired Tour play. For any sporting event, the current record attendance is 22,815, which was established during the men’s basketball game on March 9, 2013.
