The Gila River Arena is an entertainment and sports arena which is located at 9400 West Maryland Avenue, Glendale, Arizona, USA. It was originally known as the Glendale Arena while the former name was Jobing.com Arena. This arena was opened on 26th December 2003. It has a seating capacity of 17,125 for hockey, 18,300 for basketball, and 19,000 in total including 3,075 club seats and 87 luxury suites. It serves primary home to the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). The place is under the ownership of the City of Glendale and operated by AEG Facilities. This arena has also hosted four National Lacrosse League (NLL) seasons. The primary designing of the arena was meant for basketball, which changed into hockey.
The Gila River Arena has been host to the Arizona state high school basketball, volleyball, wrestling and cheerleading tournaments in a mega-event called "February Frenzy." It also held the annual event of the PBR's Built Ford Tough Series bull riding tour hosting. Some musical events held at the arena are Super Bowl Club, ArenaBowl XXIX, the Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions, and a concert by Bette Midler. It also hosts an average of 14 events per year that are not hockey related.
