Arnold D. Stambaugh Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located at 577 Fifth Avenue Youngstown, Ohio. This renowned stadium is owned and operated by Youngstown State University. The stadium opened on September 4, 1982, with the primary purpose of serving host to College Football games. Later on, the stadium became multi-purpose and featured athletics offices, football locker rooms, weight rooms, and racquetball courts. A new press box was also built along with 14 luxury suites and stadium club. Reserved chairback seats were installed during the 2009 summer with an additional two new flagpoles in the north end zone. Stambaugh Stadium has a seating capacity of 20,630 people. Before the respective expansion made, it had a seating capacity of around 17,000 people originally. Stambaugh Stadium is usually referred to as the "Ice Castle" for being the tallest building in the city with a beautiful view in every direction.
The stadium serves as a home field to Football games since 1982. The home football team has the privilege to become a power in FCS football being qualified for NCAA Division| Football Championship. In the year 2009, an additional scoreboard was added in the South end zone of the venue. Since the year 1996 till the year 2012, this stadium served as a home field to YSU's Women's Soccer team.
