Freedom Hall is a multi-purpose arena located at Freedom Way 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville, Kentucky. The venue was opened in 1956 with a seating capacity of around 18,865 for Basketball and 19,200 Concerts. The arena is operated by the Kentucky State Fair Board. In the year 1984, the renovation of the Freedom Hall took place where the expansion of the seating capacity from 16,664 to 18,865 was carried out along with floor lowering. This renovation was done to the Basketball area. The place was a former home to the Cardinal men’s basketball from the season of 1957-1958 to 2010.
The venue is honored with the big name of Muhammad Ali who fought against the Tunney Hunsaker in his first fight in this arena. In 2019, Freedom Hall held the Collegiate Wrestling Tournament. It had also hosted the Judgement Day in 2000. The record crowd of the arena was made when the University of Louisville men’s basketball team played their final game at the venue on March 6, 2010. The record attendance was 20,138 for this game. The arena has also hosted NCAA Tournament ten times in its history.
