Mississippi Coast Coliseum is the largest beachfront facility center for sports and live entertainment, which is located at 2350 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi, Mississippi. The multi-purpose arena was opened to the public in 1977. It has a seating capacity of around 11,500-seats which is reserved seating and 15,000-seats which are festival seating (11,500 for concerts and 9,150 for ice hockey). The arena is owned by the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Commission. The architecture was designed by H F Fountain Jr and Associates. The construction cost of the Coliseum was around $60 million for the expansion.
The first concert held at this multi-purpose arena was by Charley Pride on November 18, 1977. The first rock band that performed in Mississippi Coast Coliseum was Blue Oyster Cult on April 16, 1978. It also hosted the biggest sports tournament like WCW Beach Blast 1993 and the Sun Belt Conference men's basketball tournament in 1992 and 1993. The largest crawfish festivals of America which are held every year, over two weekends in April, are also held in this multi-purpose arena. Mississippi Coast Coliseum is the hub of sports where many events of sports like Ice Hockey, Basketball, Soccer, Football, and Wrestling are held.
Apart from sports it also hosts an annual rock festival known to the locals as THE CPR FESTIVAL. Popular bands like Three Days Grace, Hinder, and Staind has performed at the Coliseum. In 2007, Daughtry, Saliva, and Puddle of Mudd performed. The venue also hosted WWE SmackDown, RAW, etc.
