Tucson Arena is located within a multi-purpose Tucson Convention Center at South Church Street, Arizona. The Tucson Arena has a seating capacity of 8,962 people at a time. It was first opened for the general public on 12 November 1971. Tucson Arena has been through major renovations in 2014 and 2015. The Tucson Convention Center including Tucson Arena, Tucson Musical Hall, and Leo Rich Theatre has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. The Tucson Arena is operated and managed by SMG.
The Arena, since 2006, has been home to Tucson Roadrunner in American Hockey League. The University of Arizona Wildcats Club Hockey Team also plays at Tucson Arena. Recently in 2009, it has been announced as home to Tucson indoor Football team as well. The Tucson Arena hosts a variety of sports events, ice shows, stage shows, Wrestling events circuses, scientific and educational exhibitions, Car shows, and much more. Notable events that were hosted by Tucson Arena include Sugar Skulls, SARSEF, Society for Science, Cirque du Soleil, Road Show, Monster Jam, WWW Live, Cactus Classic Invitational Volleyball Tournament and much more. The artist who performed at the Arena includes Victorino Lujan, Matthew West, Matt Maher, Laena Crawford, Michael W.Smith, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and a few others.
