The Mann Center for the Performing Arts (formerly known as the Mann Music Center) is a non-profit performing arts center located at 5201 Parkside Avenue, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. The venue has a total seating capacity of approximately 14,000 with 4,743 seats under the roof and over 8,600 outdoors.
The present building was first opened to the public in 1976 and was named as the Mann Music Center in honor of Frederic R. Mann. In 1998, the facility was renamed to The Mann Center for the Performing Arts. It is owned by The City of Philadelphia. The venue was nominated as "Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue" in North America by Pollstar.
Since the inauguration day, the venue has been a place for notable performances. The landmark performances were North American conducting debut of Zubin Mehta, International debut of Midori - violin prodigy, International debut of Yo-Yo Ma – World-renowned cellist, the North American premiere of Firebird: Reimagined, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Bolshoi Ballet, etc. The venue hosts arts and touring companies including the American Ballet Theatre with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Marian Anderson, Leonard Bernstein, and many others. Some top artists that performed at the theater are Ed Sheeran, Phish, Tony Bennett, Mary J. Blige, Roger Daltrey, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Damien Rice, The National, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and many others.
