On May 15, 1993, the 5-level Alamodome stadium was built with a 64,000 seating arrangement. It is located at 100 Montana Street, San Antonio, Texas. This stadium is one of the largest stadiums built for multi-purpose with a building cost of $186 million. Alamodome was opened with 38 luxury suites and 6,000 club-level seats. This dome is managed and owned by the city of San Antonio. Being a multi-purpose stadium, it almosts host every game or show including Basketball, Football, Soccer, Baseball, College Basketball, Musical Concerts, and even used for filming purposes. In June 2013 the record attendance was seen at the Alamodome stadium for the concert of George Strait. Around 73,086 people were present in the stadium at that time.
The specialty of this stadium is that it can be converted to a hockey stadium, a basketball, and a football arena. It takes around 12-18 hours for the conversion task, including seating arrangement and playing surface. The Alamodome stadium can also be converted into small auditorium space popular as the “ Illusion Theater.” The stadium also has two permanent Olympic-size ice rinks that are used for NHL games, figure skating, and speed skating. The stadium is home to the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners currently, along with the San Antonio Commanders (AAF). It also hosts special events including the annual Alamo Bowl Football game, UTSA’s graduation ceremonies, etc.
The tickets for individual shows are only available at Alamodome Box Office on the event day or anytime from Tickets On Sale. It is a walk-up service only with standard business hours of 10 AM to 5 PM (Monday to Friday).
