The Rogers Centre is a multi-purpose stadium that is located in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The arena was opened to the general public on October 3, 1989, with the former name of SkyDome. The stadium's official grand opening show was the Opening of SkyDome; a celebration that had a crowd of 50,000 people accompanied by the appearances by Alan Thicke, Oscar Peterson, and Andrea Martin. The venue has a seating capacity of 49,282 for baseball, 53,6506 for football, 47,568 for Soccer, and 10,000-55,000 for Concerts. It is owned by Rogers Communications. Rod Robbie designed the architecture of this masterpiece. The venue underwent several renovations and expansions.
Rogers Centre serves host to events like football, baseball, soccer, along with conventions, trade fairs, concerts, traveling carnivals and Monster Truck shows. It also played host to the 1992 World Series, 1993 World Series, 1991 Major League Baseball All-star Game, 1991 American League Championship Series, 2009 World Baseball Classic, Canadian Football 95th Grey Cup, the first International Bowl in 2007, 43rd Vanier Cup, 1993 IAAF World Indoor Championships, AMA Supercross Championship, WrestleMania VI, and WrestleMania X8.
Some well-known artists who have performed here include Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Rolling Stones, etc. Some other notable shows include Canadian International AutoShow, International AIDS conference, Book reading with J. K. Rowling, and Margaret Atwood.
