The PPG Paints Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena located at 1001 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The place was opened for the public on August 18, 2010. The place has a seating capacity of around 18,387 (Ice Hockey), 19,100 (Basketball), 16,280 (Arena Football), 14,536 (End Stage), 19,758 (Center Stage). The arena is owned by the Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County and operated by Anschutz Entertainment Group. The architect was designed by Populous (formerly HOK Sport). This is the first gold-certified arena as “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)” in both the NHL and AFL.
The arena was opened featuring the performance of Paul McCartney. It was a memorable event because the tickets were sold out within 5 minutes of going on sale. In the first month of the arena, other performers included Rush, Lady Gaga, and Roger Waters. Justin Bieber performed in both My World Tour on December 13, 2010, and Believe Tour on November 20, 2012. Ketty Perry performed here during her Prismatic World Tour on July 22, 2014. According to the latest news, Celine Dion will perform here during her Courage World Tour on March 13, 2020.
