Royal Oak Music Theatre is a live music venue located at 318 W. Fourth Street, Royal Oak, Michigan. An entrepreneur, John H. Kinsky, opened the theater for the general public in 1928. Initially, the venue was a movie theater. In the late 1970s, the theatre reopened as a comedy and concert venue that has been used as a general entertainment venue as well since the 2000s. It has a maximum seating capacity of 1,700. Royal Oak Music Theatre is under the ownership of Worldwide Entertainment, LLC, and operated by AEG Live. Rapp & Rapp architectural firm designed the venue.
Royal Oak Music Theatre hosts a wide variety of events, including video shoots, corporate events, weddings, product launches, cd release parties, political events, holiday parties, charity events, film premieres, trade shows, networking events, private parties, and some other unique events. Martin Mull and Maria Muldaur performed the first concert in the venue on April 2, 1978. The Martins performed the second and a third concert hosted by Hall and Oates. Prism recorded a live album, "Live Tonite," at the venue on July 1978. Many world-class musicians, singers, and performers have performed under the Royal Oak Music Theatre's roof, including Wiz Khalifa, Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Adele, Aziz Ansari, Eric Church, Lady Gaga, Alt-J, and Ray LaMontagne.
