The Capital One Arena is an indoor arena that is located in China Town neighborhood at 601 F Street, NW, Washington, DC. The venue was opened to the general public on December 2, 1997, with a construction cost of $260 million. It has a seating capacity of 20,650 approximately. The architecture of the Capital One Arena was designed by Ellerbe Becket, Devrouax & Purnell, and KCF-SHG Architects. The venue is owned and operated by Monumental Sports and Entertainment. It serves as the home arena to the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League, the Georgetown University men's basketball team, the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association, and the Washington Valor of the Arena Football League.
The Capital One Arena has hosted several games and events. NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament was hosted at the arena several times. The venue served as a home to Mike Tyson's final fight; Mike Tyson vs. Kevin Mc Bride on June 11, 2005, and UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson on October 1, 2011, was held at the arena. Two all-star games occurred the 2001 NBA All-Star Game and the 2007 WNBA All-Star game. The venue also hosted Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastic Championship in 2006.
