The Dolby Theatre, which was formerly named as the Kodak Movie Theatre, is a live performance theatre located at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. The place opened its doors to the public on November 9, 2001. It has a seating capacity of around 3,400 people at a time. The theatre is owned and operated by the CIM Group. The architecture of the Dolby Theatre was designed by David Rockwell of the Rockwell Group.
The theatre is known for its televised theatrical performances. The venue hosted Oscar Night annually since 2002. It hosts symphony performances, live concerts, awards shows, and other events. The venue was renamed to its current name "Dolby Theatre" on May 1, 2012, after Dolby Laboratories signed 20 years naming rights contract. The theatre was also the former home to the Los Angeles Cirque Du Soleil show from the year 2011 until 2013. In 2016, the arena hosted the Live shows America's Got Talent and America's Got Talent Holiday Spectacular was broadcasted during the Christmas season. The theatre was rented to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences before a week of Oscar night.
