Tower Theatre - OKC - Oklahoma City, OK
Tower Theatre is a live music venue, movie theatre, and a gallery. It is located at NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City. The Tower Theatre was open to the general public in 1937. The venue has a seating capacity of approximately 1,500. It is one of Oklahoma City’s last original movie houses that consists of a whole auditorium and a neon marquee. W. Scott Dunne designed the architecture of the venue. The Tower Theatre was previously operated by Cinema West, Cooper Foundation, Warner Bros, and Circuit Management Corp. It was initially under the ownership of the Standard Theaters Corporation. In 1963, the Tower Theatre was acquired by Farris Shanbour. Later, the Shanbour family transferred the title to Uptown Development Group, LLC, on November 3, 2005, after many years of ups and downs. The theatre underwent renovations in the years 1953 and 1968.
Tower Theatre is a fully restored version of the original theatre with main floor terraces and permanently seated balcony. The Tower Studio is an event and gallery place that sometimes serves as a cozy concert spot as well. It is perfect for album release shows, exhibits, comedy shows, photoshoots, and other small events.
