The Xcel Energy Center is also known as “The X.” It is a multi-purpose arena located at 199, Kellogg Boulevard West, Saint Paul, Minnesota. The venue was opened to the general public on September 29, 2000. The Xcel Energy Center is owned by the City of Saint Paul and operated by Minnesota Sports and Entertainment. The place has a seating capacity of 17,954 (Ice Hockey), 12,999 end-stage (Concerts), and 20,554 center stages (Concerts). The arena serves as the home venue to the Minnesota Wild of the NHL. The architecture of the venue was designed by Populous (formerly HOK Sport).
The Xcel Energy Center was also the home to the 2008 Republican National Convention. The arena set the attendance record of 21,609 in the year 2015 during the State Boys’ Hockey Tournament Class AA semifinals. The NCAA Frozen Four took place at the venue in the year 2002, 2011, and 2018. It has also hosted the NHCH Frozen Faceoff in the year 2008. The Xcel Energy Center hosted the National Lacrosse League from the year 2005 to 2015. After then, it shifted to Georgia.
